Ben has launched its Annual Industry Survey to ask the automotive community about the health and wellbeing challenges they have faced in the last 12 months.
This is the fourth time that Ben has run its survey, which will also take a look at the impact that the Coronavirus pandemic has had.
It will aim to offer valuable insights to enable the charity to continue providing relevant support and services to automotive people in need. The results of the survey will also help to identify any additional services or support that automotive people think the charity should offer in the future.
Ben has urged those who work, or have worked, in the automotive industry, to take part in its survey which asks a range of health and wellbeing questions. Ben has also asked automotive industry employers to share the survey link with employees to encourage them to take part.
The last survey results revealed:
- 93% of respondents had been affected by a health & wellbeing issue in the last year
- That self-reported mental health and workplace issues are more prevalent in the automotive industry versus the rest of the UK employed population. This included anxiety (56% vs. 45%), stress at work (50% vs.41%), depression (40% vs.31%) and pressure to meet targets (31% vs. 20%).
Following insights gained from previous surveys, Ben launched a digital mental health and wellbeing platform called SilverCloud, which can support people to better manage their mental health and wellbeing. The SilverCloud programmes uses an evidenced based, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, which focuses on the relationship between our thoughts, feelings and behaviours. SilverCloud also helps individuals to develop positive coping strategies. A number of different programmes are available on the platform, including topics such as stress, anxiety and depression, as well as supporting issues such as money worries, sleep and resilience.
Ben has also responded to the Coronavirus crisis this year by developing a Coronavirus hub on its website, providing relevant health and wellbeing tips, advice and tools online. In addition to this, Ben responded to the pandemic by providing fast-track access to information, advice and guidance for further issues related to money or for anyone affected by job losses.
