Pembrey Circuit will play host to one of Wales’ truck shows on the weekend of May 20th and 21st, as Convoy Cymru rumbles into town.
Marking the start of summer – which will also see Convoy on the Plain at Thruxton and Convoy in the Park at Donington Park take place – the Welsh venue is set to welcome a crowd for Convoy Cymru.
Ahead of the show, here’s a breakdown of some of the attractions that will reputedly be on-site at the venue:
Truck racing takes centre stage
Headlining the weekend’s track action will be five races from the British Truck Racing Championship. A near-capacity grid of five tonne, 1000bhp heavyweight behemoths will go wheel-to-wheel over the course of both days, and it is said that picking a winner couldn’t be more difficult.
Stellar supporting cast
It won’t just be the British Truck Racing Championship that competes during the weekend. Joining them on the billing will be races from the Junior Saloon Car Championship, Track Attack Race Club, 2CV Championship and Welsh Sports & Saloon Car Championship.
Show trucks
Machinery won’t be confined to just the track, as Show Trucks from Wales and beyond will reportedly be on display around the venue; competing across a number of different categories as well.
Judges from Truck Sport UK will inspect and evaluate all trucks on display at Convoy Cymru, with the top three results and silverware being presented on the main stage trailer during Sunday afternoon.
Bus rides
For the second year in succession, those attending can take a tour of the circuit during the lunch break on each day via the Pembrey Beach Bus, which is said to provide photo and video opportunities.
It is claimed that visitors can also experience driving an American Kenworth or Peterbilt Truck courtesy of Clive Shaw Trucking, with passenger rides available too.
Red dragon monster truck rides
If you want to experience what it’s like to drive over cars in a monster truck, you can, courtesy of the Red Dragon Monster Truck Rides, which is claimed to be the only race-framed ride monster truck in Europe.
Squibb freestyle motocross stunt show
If you’re after some high-octane thrills, the Squibb Freestyle Stunt Team are worth seeing across Saturday and Sunday at Pembrey Circuit.
Led by veteran stunt rider Jamie Squibb, the UK-based motorcycle stunt team is said to have captivated crowds for more than a decade and this event sees it bring wheelies, stoppies, burnouts and jumps – to South Wales.
Live music
The Giti Tires Trailer Stage returns this year and is apparently set to rock the paddock across both days. Saturday will see The Bar Hounds perform their hits whilst Otherside will be in attendance on Sunday.
Truck drifting
If the British Truck Racing Championship doesn’t get your pulse racing, then Truck Drifting might. Tyre-shredding, sideways action is scheduled to take place on the circuit at 15:00 on Saturday and 14:20 on Sunday.
Trade exhibitors
Pembrey will also welcome exhibitors to Convoy Cymru, with the event providing an opportunity to engage with what is typically claimed to be a hard-to-reach audience that is usually on the move.
The Convoy marketplace welcomes all sizes and types of businesses too; with stands ranging from big manufacturers and their UK dealers, to cleaning brands, truck model enthusiasts and memorabilia merchants.
Fun for all the family
Convoy Cymru is once again trying to ensure that there is something for everyone and this year is said to include the likes of fairground rides, face painting, treasure hunts, eating competitions and food & drink stalls.
