Liqui Moly introduces an additive for AdBlue

Liqui Moly has introduced an additive for AdBlue that, it claims, protects the SCR system for exhaust gas treatment against damage.

The DEF anti-crystal additive concentrate lowers the temperature to achieve the so-called Leidenfrost effect. This promotes residue-free decomposition of the AdBlue solution and reduces the formation of a liquid film on the exhaust surface. The surfactant contained in the additive reduces the surface tension and hinders the formation of drops, which prevents the development of unwanted crystals and deposits on the injection nozzle.

AdBlue freezes at temperatures below -11.5°C. With the additive, the freezing point can be lowered to around -16°C. The new product is available in 2.5l containers.
