Mercedes-Benz franchise invests in latest site
Intercounty Truck & Van, a Mercedes-Benz dealership operating across the Midlands and Lincolnshire, has announced a £2 million investment into a new service and parts location in Dunstable, Bedfordshire, reportedly creating 30 new jobs for the local economy.
The site offers a state-of-the-art workshop for the servicing and maintenance of all makes of vans, over-the-counter parts, and a range of EV facilities – including eight EV charging points designed to keep customers and the local EV infrastructure moving.
The dealership will sit at the heart of a large industrial estate in the South East, Dunstable’s Woodside Industrial Estate – just minutes from J11/J11a of the M1 and London Luton Airport.
Offering a priority service for customers who encounter issues, the site will allow for swift and effective assistance, minimising downtime for drivers and reducing disruption within the local area, according to the company.
It’s said the Intercounty Truck & Van site will also house three 24-hour service vans, which will provide round-the-clock roadside assistance in the local area and emergency customer site visits– with plans to introduce full 24-hour servicing at the dealership in the near future.
In addition to facility upgrades, the dealership claims to be investing in technician training. This includes actively recruiting the next generation of skilled technicians through an apprentice programme and participating in the Mercedes-Benz EV technical training pathway.
This allows its technicians to repair electric vehicle equipment, including batteries, down to component level, which is said to exceed generic EV training available in the general aftermarket.
The company says the initiatives will not only support the local community by providing career opportunities but also ensure that customers receive high-quality service from trained professionals.
Nick Skillman, Managing Director at Intercounty Truck & Van, said: “The launch of the new Dunstable site offers incredible opportunity, both for the business and the local economy – particularly as Intercounty Truck & Van welcomes the transition to electric.
“The company has been operating as a Mercedes-Benz franchise for over 20 years, covering Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
“Now, there is a new, state-of-the-art dealership with huge market potential that sits in a prime location in Bedfordshire – a stone’s throw from the M1 and around the corner from customers at Luton Airport, which is set to double in capacity over the next 20 years.”
Nick concluded: “The new dealership has been built to meet the demands of loyal customers in the area as well as an engaged local community that is committed to being more sustainable – and the company couldn’t be more excited for its launch.”
Simon Neill, Customer Operations Director at Mercedes-Benz Vans in the UK, commented: “Intercounty Truck & Van has been a trusted partner of Mercedes-Benz Vans for over 20 years and we are delighted to support the launch of this new, exciting Customer Service and Parts location.
“It is set to provide customers and those travelling up and down the M1 with a huge range of services, parts, electric vehicle expertise and roadside assistance cover to ensure that the Intercounty team continues to keep businesses moving with reliable and sustainable transport.”
Simon finished by saying: “We’re also incredibly pleased to see Intercounty Truck & Van investing in 30 more roles that will bring new talent and skill sets to the Mercedes-Benz Vans brand network.”
