Technicians can sign up to three new Schaeffler REPXPERT training courses after the supplier and OE manufacturer confirmed new dates.
Held at Schaeffler’s Birmingham training academy, the hands-on events are available free of charge to REPXPERT users across the UK; however, members that sign up to the 2CT Double Clutch course will be charged a small fee to cover the IMI assessment, which includes a qualification and certificate.
The first session will take place on Tuesday April 24th and will be presented by REPXPERT Technical Trainer, Alistair Mason. Focusing on clutch technology, Alistair will share his clutch system knowledge by illustrating the importance of design, construction, operation, testing and diagnosis of all components.
For an alternative training session, the INA and FAG course will take place on Wednesday May 30th.
Tim Adams will guide attendees through a comprehensive curriculum, focusing on timing systems, front end auxiliary drive systems (FEAD) and wheel bearings.
After a mixture of interactive theory and discussion about how the various systems operate, how technology has evolved and, consequently, how technicians can adapt to the latest developments, the attendees will be able to demonstrate what they’ve learned throughout the course by taking part in various practical scenarios that will prepare them for the real thing back at their workshop.
On Tuesday June 19th the IMI-approved LuK 2CT Double Clutch training course will take place. Alistair Mason will return to deliver the training, which will include a summary of double clutch transmissions, as well as theory on the operation, components, installation and tooling for the VW DSG, Renault DC4/Ford DPS6 and Fiat/Alfa Romeo DDCT 6.
At the conclusion of Alistair’s presentation attendees will be assessed while changing a clutch and set-up of each of the vehicles studied, including a flywheel reset.
The cost of the qualification is £36, which can be invoiced through the technician’s Schaeffler supplier. All they have to do is confirm the supplier when registering.
Users can also find REPXPERT on Facebook and Twitter. There is also a UK-specific playlist on the Schaeffler’s REPXPERT YouTube channel, which streams many handy videos on LuK, INA, FAG and Ruville components.
