Automechanika 2022 preview

Automechanika 2022 preview

After an enforced break owing to Covid, the epic Automechanika show returns to its spiritual home of Frankfurt in September. CVW looks at what’s on offer.

It’s hard to imagine the scale of Automechanika, staged at Messe Frankfurt over September 13th to 17th, yet it may help to think of it in football pitches. The show covers around 200,000m2 which, in soccer terms, is just over 28 stadium size pitches. Having such an enormous space covering eight halls of the giant venue is just as well, as the show needs to accommodate around 5000 exhibitors and potentially over 130,000 visitors.

When you chew on numbers like that, there’s no doubting that Automechanika is the automotive aftermarket event of the year. No other trade fair covers the entire ‘value chain’ of the automotive aftermarket like Automechanika, making it an international Who’s Who of the industry in focused areas like diagnostics and repair; parts and components; electronics and connectivity; body and paint; accessories and customization, and workshop management.

In terms of highlights, with nearly 5000 exhibitors, it would be nigh impossible to cover them in a magazine with ten times the pages for this one, but we’ve had a trawl through the list and pulled out some names you might recognise if you’re travelling out there to have a look. While most of the stands are being hosted by European or parent group companies, those below with headquarters in the UK are listed in bold.
