CMG Rescue has installed a mobile column lift solution from TotalKare, meaning the UK road network is set to benefit from the increased availability of recovery vehicles.
Based in Newport Pagnell, the company operates a range of light and heavy breakdown recovery vehicles, with 75 tracked assistance vehicles available at a moment’s notice and a transport and logistics operations that runs more than 30 trucks and trailers across the UK and Europe.
Keeping these vehicles maintained is said to be an ongoing challenge and to ease this issue, CMG Rescue turned to TotalKare to install a set of eight cable-free T8DC mobile column lifts, along with supporting workshop equipment including a transmission jack, trailer beam and axle support stands.
The T8DC is a lifting solution, with each column capable of lifting up to 7,500kg. Usable in configurations of 4, 6 or 8 columns, CMG Rescue now benefits from a solution that can lift all vehicles in its fleet, from light commercial vans to its 38-tonne heavy recovery vehicles.
Adjustable forks mean a wide range of wheel diameters can be accommodated and its cable-free nature means the risk of slips, trips and falls in the workshop are significantly reduced.
Use of a trailer beam in conjunction with the T8DC enables trailers to be raised for maintenance, while the transmission jack is said to be ideal for handling gearboxes and engines in most workshop situations, especially when removing units via the underside of a vehicle is the only option.
TotalKare will be supporting the lift installation with an ‘AfterKare’ service package, including two service visits per year and Reports of Thorough Examination.
Sean Warren, Fleet Manager at CMG Rescue, explained the reasons behind the latest purchase: “We spoke to several suppliers after initially making contact at the Commercial Vehicle Show in 2017. TotalKare was the only company who remained in touch from the initial enquiry through to order placement – its enthusiasm to develop a positive working relationship with us was a big factor in our final decision.”
Adam Bowser, Area Sales Manager at TotalKare, added: “It was important to CMG Rescue that it had a trusted supplier in place and our existing presence in the heavy haulage industry gave it confidence in our products.
“In addition, our ability to supply a complete lifting solution that catered for its entire fleet, along with a variety of finance and after care service plans, made us the standout choice.”
