Knorr-Bremse unveils latest products

Knorr-Bremse, a leading supplier to OEMs of commercial and public service vehicles, tells CVW about its entry into the aftermarket with Fersa Bearings and the new products it can offer.

A new alliance with Spanish manufacturer, Fersa Bearings, means that Knorr-Bremse will be able to boost its support to UK’s workshops, according to Tim Ford, Head of Aftermarket Sales & Customer Service.

“Fersa Bearings is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of powertrain solutions so this will mean that Knorr-Bremse Truck Services can offer not only the complete range of spare parts for wheel-ends, but also all the appropriate tools.

“It’s a massive range,” he says. “It covers trucks, buses and trailers and includes not only taper roller bearings, but also wheel bearing kits, compact bearing units, wheel bearing units, and bearings that are already integrated into the wheel hub, what’s known as the preset hub.”

Precision, safety and effectiveness are the key factors when working with the bearings, so Knorr-Bremse provides specially designed tools that make the replacement and installation of bearings with a press easier.

Faster extraction

“Working together with Fersa is already enabling us to offer innovative products,” says Tim. “The latest is a hydraulic hub extractor, which will improve productivity, not to mention health and safety in the workshop. Sometimes inappropriate tools, such as torches or radial cutters, are used for this task. And that risks damaging axles – or worse – operatives. This tool avoids that.”

Designed to fit any European hub, both for the front or rear axle of a truck or semitrailer, this tool (part number K258289N50) allows operatives to work safely, at more than 1.5m from the bushing. The assembly allows for faster extraction, up to a maximum of 23 tons. In addition, it adapts to any axle, whether front or rear. The bolts and nuts of the hub itself are utilised, regardless of their size and thread.

“Tools such as these from the partnership between Knorr-Bremse and Fersa will enable workshops to repair wheel-ends swiftly and safely, putting customers’ vehicles back on the road quickly,” claims Tim.

Fersa Bearings also supplies an array of high quality solutions for repairing differential gearboxes and automated transmissions.
