What are the different uses of lubricants?

CVW takes a look at a video series that is out now called ‘Workshop Chat’, featuring Morris Lubricants’ brand ambassadors Guy Martin and Truck Racing Driver Dave Jenkins.

Guy Martin is no stranger to a mechanic’s workshop, whether he is working on trucks, tractors, or his bikes. He knows the importance of using the correct oils, greases, and lubricants to make sure they are all running at their best.

In this video series Morris Lubricants’ technology manager, Adrian Hill catches up with Guy and truck racer Dave to discuss the changes and developments they have seen for oils and lubricants in their garages at work, at the racetrack and at home. They consider the importance of selecting the correct oils for these very different environments and the crucial differences in these products that ensure their vehicles maintain optimum performance.

Lubricant choices

In the video series Guy, Dave and Adrian review the different uses of oils, greases, and lubricants in the workshops they operate in. The video series looks at their place of work maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles. Dave owns and manages a service and repair garage for cars and commercial vehicles. Guy is a truck mechanic working on commercial vehicles in a workshop. Both Dave and Guy see lorries, trucks and HGVs in the workshops that do large amounts of mileage, so therefore reliability and performance are the key issues. Both discuss the importance of using the correct oils and lubricants, as well as highlighting some of the changes they have seen over the years. Quality is key to making sure commercial vehicles are reliable and operate as they should.

The series also sees Dave give an insight into his race truck and how it is configured for racing. He explains to Guy and Adrian why using Morris Lubricants quality oils, greases and lubricants is so important to the success of his racing. Dave’s truck is put through extreme conditions and temperatures when competing, so using the correct oils and lubricants helps his truck to hit optimal performance and won’t let him down when out racing on the track.

Content insights

Guy and Adrian are also shown some of Dave’s personal pride and joys in his workshop including a replica of his Father’s (Tony Jenkins) original racing truck from the 1980s. Guy and Dave discuss how they use Morris Lubricants products on all their vehicles and equipment in their own homes, from cars, bikes, tractors, mowers, strimmers and so much more.

Then to finish the series, a quick-fire round of questions that looks at Guy and Dave’s favourite event, dream vehicle, their go-to product and why they trust Morris Lubricants with all their vehicles.

As Adrian explains “This video series provides a great insight into the workshops that Guy and Dave work in. They explain the importance of using the correct oils in the workshop, on the roads and on the racetrack.”
