IMS Limited, exclusive distributor of the SAF-Holland range of products and OE parts in the UK and Ireland, has produced a series of videos covering INTRA maintenance.
This particular video provides a step-by-step guide to the removal and replacement of the brakes shoes. Work should be undertaken by trained operatives using the correct equipment and observing proper health and safety precautions.
OE parts should always be used and the specialised OE tooling, essential to the procedure, is available from IMS Limited.
Step One:
De-adjust brake.
Step Two:
Remove hub nut using hand tools. Note left hand side, left hand thread.
Step Three:
Thread protector shown in position.
Step Four:
Remove brake shoe assembly.
Step Five:
Remove steel balls and ensure that ball sockets and cam shaft are cleaned and free from debris.
Step Six:
Install brake shoes using only genuine parts.
Step Seven:
Apply anti-fret grease.
Step Eight:
Ensure that the bearing clip and ‘O’ ring are correctly fitted.
Step Nine:
Make sure that the hub nut is refitted according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Step 10:
Adjust the brake and check functionality following manufacturer’s instructions.
